David, Rebecca, Debra, and Alderman Charlie Shapiro Volunteer for NewtonSERVES 2011
I ran for Alderman because…
Two years ago, the City of Newton was at a critical crossroads and an open minded, well communicated, new, and more effective approach to the way it serves its residents was needed.
Many people throughout our city also agreed that it was time for a change, and voted in a new Mayor, 5 new members of the Board of Aldermen (including a new president and vice president), and 3 new members of the School Committee.
It continues to be a time of renewal. Our challenge now, is to focus on the needs of Newton’s residents and businesses and deliver the services we all expect within a framework of diminished resources. Nobody said it would be easy. But, it can and must be done. I continue to have the drive and the passion to improve our city…and your support fuels my motivation.
My committee assignments include Public Safety & Transportation, Zoning & Planning, and Post Audit & Oversight on which I serve as the vice chair of the committee. I am honored to be the only freshman Alderman to have been named a chair or vice chair by Board of Alderman President Scott Lennon.
Please email me directly at charlie@voteshapiro.org anytime and let me know what you feel are the most important issues to you. I also welcome the opportunity to attend coffees, community and village meetings, and neighborhood gatherings.
With your support, I’ll be able to continue to work I’ve started, and I’m asking for your vote. Your financial contribution is also very welcome as it allows us the resources to get our message out to the entire city.
Thank you for taking the time to visit VoteShapiro.org, and I look forward to seeing you at city hall, in your neighborhood, and around town!
